Hotel Rates in Prague, Tallinn and London Falling
Statistics out this week from STR Global, a company which analyses hotel data – such as the average rate paid and how many rooms they have occupied on average – makes interesting reading. Its figures from 17 European capitals show that the percentage of rooms occupied in all of them has fallen from this time last year.
The cities with the biggest drops in the number of people staying were Prague (-16%), Rome (-15%) and Tallinn (-15%). In London, there were 3% fewer people staying this year than last. Prices are reflecting the drop in occupancy with great deals now on offer from www.select-a-room.com
The company’s managing director James Chappell said that the declines are a direct result of the worldwide financial crisis, economic slowdown and falling consumer confidence.
Average daily rates paid by hotel guests have gone down in many of the cities, the research found. Dublin has seen an 11% drop in average rates since last year.
